A 100% Female culinary competition
Promoting women chefs, sous-chefs, pastry chefs, cooks and food entrepreneurs in the food industry
“Elles sont Food, and You?” is an event organized by the Consulate General of France in Toronto in partnership with the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Management, Ryerson University.
This culinary competition is open to women chefs, sous-chefs, pastry chefs, cooks and food entrepreneurs, living in Ontario and involved in the gastronomy scene.
The goal for the participants is to showcase culinary culture of Ontario and/or France by creating the best cocktail party possible. For this, they will have to rely not only on the specificity of French culinary culture, but also on the diversity and richness of Ontario cuisine with the objective to showcase the best local Canadian and/or French ingredients.
Composition of the Jury
The selection of the finalists, that is to say the best bite in each category, will be made by a jury composed of eight members, during a tasting session and rating according to very precise evaluation criteria.
The jury will be made up of recognized professionals and personalities from the world of gastronomy: chefs, catering professionals, bloggers, gourmets, incubators, press and culinary media, event agencies, etc.
By proposing the event “Elles sont Food, and You?”, The Consulate General of France and their partners would like to promote women chefs, sous-chefs, pastry chefs, cooks and food entrepreneurs and offer them a visibility on the gastronomic scene of Ontario by allowing them to express their talent in front of a jury of professionals of the sector.
The finalists and their creations will be honoured in one or more specialized magazines. They will also be offered a collaboration with a local event agency for one of their events (TBC).
The finalists will also have the opportunity to present and have their appetizers served at the awards and cocktail party, which will be offered to an audience of professionals and knowledgeable amateurs.
Registration: March 8th to April 30th
Testing and evaluation session: May 28th
Award ceremony and cocktail party: June 11th
